Joining the ranks at Sliptrick Records this week:
Āter (BE) Old School Melodic Black Metal
Āter started in 1996 as a solo project. At the time, it didn’t go very far as protagonist Wesley Beernaert often had, and took, the opportunity to join other touring artists as lead vocalist. Years later, whilst moving house, Wesley found an old broken hard drive and recovered 4 songs. Inspired, he remastered them and replayed the bass and some guitar parts. And so the EP Vullighied, written in an almost 1000 year old dialect of Flanders, was finally ready to see the light with even a bonus song added to the end. Vullighied will be released worldwide soon via Sliptrick Records.
Meanwhile Āter is no longer a solo project. Wesley has had the incredible luck to have had been approached by people way more capable than himself to write songs and record them. The EP is being released because history should not be lost, and it beckons a new era of Āter as a fully fledged band. Expect similar music but with a greater emphasis on melody, 2 (and sometimes 3) guitars instead of one, and goose-bump inducing melodic riffs.
