Pagan Interface – Sidewinder [Official Video]
Taken from the album: Psychic Feedback & The Crystal Void | 2019
Electronic music artist Pagan Interface has released a new video for the track Sidewinder taken from the forthcoming album Psychic Feedback & The Crystal Void due out via Sliptrick Records later in the year.
The music of Pagan Interface is inspired by sci-fi and not so much movies but books (Philip k. Dick, George A. Effinger and even some William Burroughs); so that naturally leads to some 80’s post punk inspired synths lines and drum patterns; however, leader Thomas is trying to avoid most of the cliches which come with labels like synth-wave or retro.
“Reading ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep’ for instance, the visuals in my mind don’t look anything like the ‘Blade Runner’ movie (don’t get me wrong, both movies are among my favorite top 5 films of all tines); my dystopia is just less rainy and more sun burnt. I started with a bass pattern and evolved from there; adding some piano a synthesized guitar the synth and finally the drums mixing it to a coherent whole maintaining a certain level of imperfection; listening to the finished piece, images of a desert popped up and the hi-hats felt like a snake sliding across the surface… so the title was born; juxtaposing two words people usually don’t put in relation to each other.” – Thomas Huckenholz (Pagan Interface)
